    friday the 30th

    So i planned to take more pictures today but the communications department is doing some overhaul in the radio department, so i was unable to take pictures today.  I talked to deb young and she is in the process of getting the blurbs i need and she said they should be done soon.  I also spoke with her about the film studio and getting it somewhat ready so tom baker could come in and take pictures, she said it should be ready before thanksgiving break.  I am hoping.  Also worked a bit more on the policy's and procedures today, and I am almost finished with what I have.  TODAY I DID MY WORK BEFORE 3 SO I WILL NOT BE IN THE SWAT ROOM.

    This week I did the following;
     
    • I talked to Tom about my websites
    • Took the camera
    • E-mailed professors for updates
    • Going to do some work for a English club
    • Set up new links for my various sites

    Week of October 26

    This week I was to round up all the SWAT documents and put them in one place. I got on every machine and put them on our spaces live account. I also tried to put them all in our shared folder but it said Access Denied. So I then called UIT and they set up an H drive for us (had to restart the computer and try accessing it) but it said Access Denied, also. So then they just put in a work order to figure out our access issues. I talked to AJ about Windows 7 and he said he didn't think they had copies yet, but Dr. D asked them and they do and we are getting it for our Vista machines. The Web Suite CS4 issue is not going to be discussed with UIT at this time, if you need to use a program we don't have, go to Murph's computer lab or 205. We will eventually ask them, but right now we're asking too much.

    Oct 29th

    Today I'm currently working on the picture that Terry Martin sent me for the Studio Art page again in Photoshop. Tom Baker said he wants the image to "pop" out more. I'm also going to talk more about it with him on Monday when we meet. Last, I will continue working on the Theatre page.

    Met with Tom today and again went over tons of information!
    We dealt with items on:

    PayPal and using this service.  What type of database does she have for her inventory management.  Would I use Access and then link this database on the web server through complex SQL with “real time” updates?
    Took her “children's picture” and kept it at 499x700 but instead of being a 1mg file through adjusting the resolution from 72 to 49 it became a 1/2mg file and the image quality is now very nice!  Posted that to the site! 
    Here are the things I learned:
    Web page layout-divine proportions=x/1.68=y  layout of a page needs to be aesthetically planned.
    Opened up Photo Shop and discovered how to better navigate here with changes to a picture and how to properly crop a picture.

    Spent 3 hours tonight working on her “about us” page.  Updated the wording and changed the table layout.  Sent her a communication on progress and requesting input on her inventory database.  Realized that I have duplicate files on TurboNet’s server that I need to address.  Going to fix that with Steven tomorrow.  My updates didn’t go since they are in the back-up files…

    Oct 28th

    Today I got an e-mail back from Tom Baker. He said he likes how I made the studio art page more readable and wants to meet with me on Monday at 1:00 PM. As of now, I'm going to continue working on the Theatre page.

    Monday 26th

    Today we had the meeting, I also sent out the emails for the new members.  Currently working on pictures for the Communications site, also planning on taking pictures on friday, as well as working on the new policy's and procedures that we are going to turn in on the 9th.

    Oct 27th

    Today I got an e-mail from Katricia with more information to include on the website. I then put all of that information on the storyboard that I have been working on. I also haven't heard back from Tom about the Studio Art page. For the rest of my day, I'm going to keep working on the Theatre page. So far, I've removed the drop shadow from the original image, using Photoshop and began arranging things around.

    Week of October 22

    This week I went to the community luncheon.  Also I updated the SWAT video.  I worked some more on the Academics redesign just need confirmation from Dr. McCarthy for links and content and things of that sort.

    Went to see Tom today and we went over my spry navigation bar and looked at my code for the recycling site.  He suggested changing my div tags and adopting a better naming convention for them than what I had.  He is having me research Global Reset and I am aligning the site with the WWU site specific to H1, H2, H3, H4, style sheets.  We increased the width to 960px and he sent me to map out the rest of the index page on grid paper.

    I am better understanding what I am doing with the code each time I meet with him.  I know it would be so easy just to click the icons in DW and make this happen quickly but I understand what is going on this way.

    Oct 26th

    Today before our meeting, I worked on the storyboard for the St. Alban's site for about forty minutes. I then attended the meeting, and worked for another forty minutes on the storyboard and got as much done to it as I can at the moment. I'm a little confused about where Katricia wanted some of the pictures to go, so I e-mailed her and also asked her if she had anything else to send me. I'm not sure why Tom Baker hasn't e-mailed me back yet about the two Web pages I redesigned for the Studio Art page. I will try re-sending the e-mail and if I don't get a response, I may go talk to him. For the rest of my time today, I'm going to start working on the Theatre page.

    Week of October 19

    Worked on computers. They are so slow that it takes me forever just to get one thing done. Especially Dr. Davis' old machine. I have also had Dr. Davis email UIT requesting we get Windows 7 on our machines if possible.

    Attended the SWAT meeting today.  I have been thinking of ideas from our policy and procedure and new member orientation discussion.  I have put them in a file in my SWAT folder.

    Alicia-recycle site

    Worked on the code and spry menu for the recycle site Thursday and Sunday(today).  Spry menu dropdown was much easier this time but still have some questions for Tom.  I need to split up my bottom picture section and am having trouble doing so.  Increased my page width to 850px from 700px.

    October 22

    Today I spent some time in Photoshop, working on the image Terry Martin gave me for the Studio Art page. I made a new file in Dreamweaver on Viper, studio_art3, so Tom Baker could compare it to studio_art2 and see which one he likes better so we can go live with one of them. It took me some time to figure out the placement of the image, but I e-mailed Tom to see if they were done correctly. I printed out the Studio Art page and put it on my clipboard if anyone wants to see and compare. For the rest of my time today, I'm going to take screen shots of the two pages I made and put them on my disk drive for future reference.

    WED 10-21

    Today I met with Tom baker today and we went through some pictures I took for the communications page.  I am going to re-shoot them for various reasons.  Also interviewed a potential new swat member.  E-mailed Deb Young to find out some dates from her for when would be a good time to take the rest of my photos.
    October 20

    October 20th

    Today I attended the Luncheon at noon. I presented about the new SWAT logo I made and about SWAT's goals. For the rest of my time today I worked on the storyboard for the St. Alban's Website.

    Alicia-Community Luncheon

    Got up early this morning and completed the PPT presentation. (5 hours)  I have put it in my SWAT folder.  Scott did the video that I added but did not save it as a PPShow and I went off to the Community Luncheon (1:15)…

    The Community Luncheon Presentation went well although the video did not play but we handled it smoothly and went on as if nothing had happened.  Everyone presented well and did a great job! (1 hour)  Had a learning moment afterwards so now the video is embedded in the presentation and saved as a “Show”. 

    Tech Tip I got from Murph-Always save your PPT as a PPShow when completed and this keeps everything inclusive to the presentation. (videos, links & such)

    Monday 19th

    Attended the weekly meeting.  Also helped conduct an interview for Tyler.  Set up a meeting for Wednesday at 2 with Tom Baker to look at the communication pictures that I shot.  Conducting another interview with Drew on Wednesday during my work hours. Have a meeting with Dr. D on Wednesday after the interview to talk about the next meeting.  Sent out all of the congratulations letters to the students we have selected.  Made some tweeks to the SWAT site, it should be completed now just have to get it live.  Will talk to Tom Baker on Wednesday to see if he can change some of the locked links on the student organization pages to get SWAT linked right.

    Week of October 15th

    This week I helped Alicia with some coding on the recycling site.  Also I am still working on the Academics pages.  I am gathering all the links and information for the redesign.  After I get all the information I have to run it by Dr. McCarthy for approval and to make sure everything is accurate.  I worked Thursday 11-2.
